Jelly Telly is a daily "television show" online for kids. It's creator is Phil Vischer, one of the creators of VeggieTales. We heard about it at the parenting seminar at our church this weekend, and it really is incredible. It's humorous and silly, and also teaches kids about different books of the Bible and biblical principles.
ALL FOUR of my kids have really enjoyed this show. From ages 8 down to 2, they have giggled and laughed and enjoyed it together. There are also games on the website that kids can play.
There is a 4.99/month fee to watch all of the episodes, but in my opinion, this is very worth it. With the time my kids want to spend on the internet, I feel this will be a good addition (and hopefully a substitution!) to many of the things they WANT to play (like FarmTown ugh) that I don't let them play. :)

Of course you have to download their "music downloader" software, but it integrates with iTunes (or whatever you use).
Here is a website I've been visiting for a lot of free patterns lately. FaveCrafts.com is an awesome site with 1000's of free craft projects, home
decor ideas and DIY tips. They add new projects and tips every day. Some
of the free crafts projects that I've enjoyed looking at include Christmas Crafts, Free Crochet Patterns and Crafting with Kids. You can sign up for their free daily e-mail newsletter Quick & Crafty and they have a lot of good free eBooks like "Creative Crafting all Year Round: Crafts to Celebrate the Holidays eBook".
I'm not a big "conservationist", but I do like free stuff, and this Wildlife Calendar for next year (2010) looks really nice! They're sending them out free if you sign up by September 15.
For just today, August 26, you can use the coupon code "FUNDAY" at Walgreens to get a free collage print. Make sure you choose in-store pick up so you don't have to pay for shipping.

I am using a new note-taking service called Evernote. It is an excellent resource for keeping track of notes of all kinds. You can organize things into notebooks and search your notes. It has online access, or a desktop version, and (as always) an app for your mobile phone. This is why I like it so much - I can take notes on my phone, and they are automatically synced to my desktop, so I don't lose anything in the transition.
Just passing along another good product.
I have come across a neat service called "Instapaper" that I have enjoyed reading. It's kind of like a bookmarking service for articles/pages you want to read online. You install their bookmark, and when you are on a page you want to read later, just click the bookmark (creatively named 'read later'), and then you can go to their website anytime you want, and read all the articles that you have bookmarked.
Does life ever just catch you off guard? These last couple of weeks have been crazy for our family! We've been gone every single day for the last almost two weeks - that never happens in our family. It's been worth it - it's all church/VBS-related - but, still, it's getting hard.
Anyway, that explains my absence from blogging in the last few weeks. Not that much new to share, either, though I will post some VBS pictures later in the week.
Oh, and one thing that's just total silliness - my son (8) has a "facebook for kids" page!! He has been begging me to let him have a real FB page, and I just did not feel comfortable with that at all. You just never know...however, I found a website that does the same thing, only for kids, that is strictly monitored and also lets me see everything he access or who talks to him, and he is just having a ball!! Any of you with young ones might want to check this out, if they are in to that sort of thing! :)

Get 9 free audiobook MP3s from Barnes & Noble (ends May 16th) | Gizmo's Freeware
Follow this link to download 9 free audiobooks. I tried it, and it really is free. Downsides: you do have to enter a credit card number (even though they don't actually charge you anything), and you have to set up a Barnes & Noble account. Still, they don't charge you anything, and there are nine actual books:
"The Babysitter's Code" (short stories)
by Laura Lippman
Well known for her popular series of mysteries starring the fearless Tess Monoghan, Laura Lippman has won every major mystery award, from the Anthony to the Agatha.
"Super Goat Man" (short stories)
by Jonathon Lethem
Jonathan Lethem has a talent for bending literary genres. He has been entertaining readers since 1994's Gun, with Occasional Music, a debut novel that contained all the ingredients of his future career as a writer: science fiction, pulp detective noir, westerns, and award-winning coming-of-age stories.
"Best New Horror" (short stories)
by Joe Hill
Joe Hill is the author of the New York Times bestselling novel Heart-Shaped Box, the award-winning collection, 20th Century Ghosts, and a critically acclaimed comic book series, Locke & Key.
"Great Day: An Unabridged Short Story from Armageddon in Retrospect"
by Kurt Vonnegut
The first and only collection of unpublished works by Kurt Vonnegut since his death-a fitting tribute to the author, and an essential contribution to the discussion of war, peace, and humanity's tendency toward violence.
"Fathers: An Unabridged Story from The View from Castle Rock"
author?
Alice Munro is hardly the typical writer of love stories. Throughout her more than fifty-year career, she has never pandered to an audience used to happy endings and perfect relationships. Instead, she writes with a maturity and honesty that reveals the true nature of love in all its heartbreaking complexity.
"Truth or Dare"
by Elizabeth Berg
Elizabeth Berg is the New York Times bestselling author of many novels, including Dream When You're Feeling Blue, We Are All Welcome Here, The Year of Pleasures, The Art of Mending, Say When, True to Form, Never Change, and Open House, which was an Oprah’s Book Club selection in 2000. Durable Goods and Joy School were selected as ALA Best Books of the Year, and Talk Before Sleep was short-listed for the ABBY Award in 1996. The winner of the 1997 New England Booksellers Award for her body of work, Berg is also the author of a nonfiction work, Escaping into the Open: The Art of Writing True. She lives in Chicago.
"Ysrael"
by Junot Diaz
Dominican-American writer Junot Daz has spun the heartbreak and loneliness of the immigrant experience into literary gold with memorable stories of marginalized outsiders caught between two cultures.
"Merrano of the Dry Country"
by Louis L'Amour
When Miguel Merrano first came to Mirror Valley, the land was green and lush . . . and off limits to Mexicans. Ranchers such as Tom Drake and Joe Stangle tried to drive Merrano out, to fence him out; and when we warned them that greed and overgrazing would ruin their land, they refused to listen.
Now Merrano's predictions have come true. Mirror Valley is so dry it's about to blow away. The cattle are hollow-ribbed and dying. And the ranchers are broke . . . flat broke. Only Merrano's ranch is still thriving. As the ranchers watch him pay for goods in gold and sell his cattle at a mighty profit, their hatred grows and festers . . . until they draw their guns in a desperate act that will pit daughter against father, friend against friend – an act that could tear the valley apart forever.
"The Adventures of Tom Sawyer"
by Mark Twain
Tom Sawyer is the classic adventure story of a boy growing up in a fictional Missouri river town.
Drawing from his own experience, Mark Twain (Samuel L. Clements) violates the rules of the times and creates a novel of boyhood without the preaching common in other boy's novels of this time.
First published in 1876, Tom Sawyer introduced to everyone those memorable characters: Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn, Injun Joe, and Becky Thacher. Tom Sawyer, as a character, went on to appear in two more books and in Huckleberry Finn.
Please check the expiration date on pancake mixes. I got this email warning, and thought I'd pass it along. It's worth noting that this would only be a problem if:
#1 you have mold allergies
AND
#2 you were eating out of an old pancake mix that had been opened for a long time and/or was packaged in paper packaging, which would not keep dampness out, even if it had never been opened.
(An un-opened box of pancake mix that is wrapped in plastic or foil should be fine no matter it's age.) Here's the original message:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apparently, the mold that forms in old mixes can be toxic!
A boy had pancakes and it almost became fatal. His Mom (registered nurse) made him pancakes, dropped him off at school and headed to play tennis. She never takes her cell phone on the court but did this time and her son called to say he was having trouble breathing. She told him to go to the nurse immediately and proceeded to call school and alert the nurse. The nurse called the paramedics and they were there in 3 minutes and worked on the boy all the way to the hospital. He came so close to dying. Evidently this is more common then I ever knew. Check the expiration dates on packages like pancakes and cake mixes that have yeast which over time develop spores/mold.
Throw away ALL OUTDATED pancake mix, Bisquick, brownie mixes etc you have in your home.
This is not a hoax. You can check this website ....... http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/pancake.asp
14 things you can do with Coffee filters ..who knew! And you can buy 1,000 at the Dollar Tree

1. Cover bowls or dishes when cooking in the microwave. Coffee filters
make excellent covers.
2. Clean windows and mirrors. Coffee filters are lint-free so they'll
leave windows sparkling.
3. Protect China . Separate your good dishes by putting a coffee
filter between each dish.
"These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers."It's not that we shouldn't think about these things. But when they dominate our thoughts, that's when it becomes worry. Instead, we are exhorted to "Seek God's Kingdom first."
