AWANA Awards Ceremony

The kids are almost finished with their AWANA year! This is a very integral part of our lives during the school year. In addition to it being "Wednesday night church", it's also the kids' Bible course throughout the year. They work really hard on memorizing all of their verses.

Andrew was a Cubbie this year (his first year). He really enjoyed the year, after an initial adjustment period. He doesn't handle change very well, so it was very hard for him to go into a different class with different kids, even though he was very excited about the IDEA of being a Cubbie. He finally got into it, and finished his very first book. He was very proud. He did NOT, however, enjoy being up on stage, so that's why Granny is holding him in some of these pictures.

This was Annie's second year in Sparks (which goes from Kindergarten through 2nd grade). She's finished her 1st year book, and her 2nd year book.

This was Matthew's third (and final) year in Sparks. He finished ALL THREE Sparks book, and earned the Sparky Plaque, which he is very excited about. This represents about 50+ verses that he has learned in the last three years. He'll go on to T&T next year, which is even harder and more involved.

I didn't get many very good pictures, but here are a few.

Our church doesn't have an AWANA program, I didn't even know that preschoolers could go - you have to find a program in our area!

You can look at this website and see if there's one near you:

I think the preschool thing is relatively new - this is only our second year to do it. It's amazing what they will come home saying and singing! :)
