AWANA Awards Ceremony

The kids are almost finished with their AWANA year! This is a very integral part of our lives during the school year. In addition to it being "Wednesday night church", it's also the kids' Bible course throughout the year. They work really hard on memorizing all of their verses.

Andrew was a Cubbie this year (his first year). He really enjoyed the year, after an initial adjustment period. He doesn't handle change very well, so it was very hard for him to go into a different class with different kids, even though he was very excited about the IDEA of being a Cubbie. He finally got into it, and finished his very first book. He was very proud. He did NOT, however, enjoy being up on stage, so that's why Granny is holding him in some of these pictures.

This was Annie's second year in Sparks (which goes from Kindergarten through 2nd grade). She's finished her 1st year book, and her 2nd year book.

This was Matthew's third (and final) year in Sparks. He finished ALL THREE Sparks book, and earned the Sparky Plaque, which he is very excited about. This represents about 50+ verses that he has learned in the last three years. He'll go on to T&T next year, which is even harder and more involved.

I didn't get many very good pictures, but here are a few.

Annie's Ballet Recital

Last weekend was Annie's THIRD ballet recital! I can't believe she has done ballet for three years already, but she absolutely loves it. Mrs. Julie, her dance teacher, is a wonderful Christian lady, and has given her a love for dance. She has a wonderful perspective, and has really taught Annie how to use the gifts God has given her to worship him. You can check out her website - she has a lot of pictures from last year's recital.

Anyway, Annie's recital was, as usual, WONDERFUL! She was so excited - and not nervous or embarrassed a bit! It always surprised me, but she will just go on stage in front of 500 people and not even bat an eye! I love my special little Annie-girl!

Boys!

I don't know what it was like for you as a child, but I do remember playing in mud. I DON'T, however, remember SLIDING around in mud, as though it was a slip & slide.

My boys, on the other hand...:

A couple of interesting stories

We've had a plumbing problem in our house the last few days. Jeremy's LEAST favorite thing in the world to deal with is plumbing issues. And this is a man who can fix ANYTHING, so you know that's saying something.

So, it's hard enough to get the work done. What makes it even harder? An audience? Daddy's boys wanted to be right next to him the entire time he was working. You know how that feels, Moms? :)

So, I thought you would enjoy a few pictures of my babies helping their Daddy!

So, next to plumbing, what does Jeremy love best? Seeing his boys dressed as girls!! That's the other thing that happened today. Evidently, when Jacob was born, Annie thought she had just had her very own baby doll! She's been dressing him up, and he definitely LOVES the attention! So, today I found them in the bathroom putting in all their hair things! She came out later and said, "Mommy, Jacob needs some lipstick on!" Luckily, we were right there to say NO HE DOESN'T, but what happens next time???? :)

My birthday boy. He's getting so big.

New catcher's gear. He's ready!

We were trying to get a "real" smile, so Daddy was tickling him! :)

Matthew's 8 now. It's hard to believe. Where have these last 8 years gone?

Jacob's role in our house

It should be pretty obvious from these photos, what Jacob thinks his role is in our house:
